spring 2008 coutour

The immutability of the brand

For the 2008 s/s haute coutour, Karl showed again the spirit of Chanel , which is immutability of the brand. He pitched the Chanel image toward lightness, freshness, and the young customer he sees emerging in new markets.

the collection was partly inspired by the spiraling forms and delicate colors of shells,Together, they built toward some breathtaking moments : a fondant-pink suit veiled in cream tulle, a raw-edged midnight-blue chiffon cocktail dress, a black bustier dress with gold glinting from the inside of its looped-up skirts.

from the collection, we can find achromatic scheme colours , we can also find analogous colour scheme( e.g. baby pink, beige ) appeared in the collection which showed the colors of the shells.

I used the spilt complementary color scheme to create my boutique mood. They are violet , yellow and green.I would like to use the violet to be my backfound color as you can see that the floor and the shelves are colored by violet. Besides, the merchandise are main yellow and green. overall, the colors project a mysterious and elegant atmosphere which attract the customer to have a look in the shop.

Description and explanations:
I use the earth tone colour, for example, grey, brown, black . It is also added white into some of the outlets. As a whole,I want to project a harmony image to the collection. Therfore, a monochromatic colour scheme has been applied.

Chanel s/s ready -to-wear 2009

colour story

For the s/s ready-to- wear2009, Karl Largerfeld used a relatively tight palette of black, white, and gray, achromatic scheme again and used adjacent color ( violet and pink) .The theme"Our House" was inspired by a grayish portrait by Marie Laurencin, who painted Coco Chanel in the twenties. Besides the achromatic scheme colour,Karl used pink and Violet in order to add romance and elegant elements in the collection to represent the theme, represent Chanel.

Chanel s/s couture 2009

colour story

' A white page'
This collection use of pale white colour in most of the outlets.
It is one of Channel label colour , but use of a 'games of lines & shapes' to interest the collection.
Karl used achromatic scheme of colourto represent his idea of "white page", together with the stage design both we can see that dominant white appeared and a little black and grey colour still can be found in the collection. " a white page" , it is the beginning of everthing which inspire Karl
cleared everything away and "started with a clean sheet of paper."
